Looking forward to vacation? If you have a beach vacay in your future (I’m jealous), you may be considering a trip in to the spa to get waxed–down there. Women have been doing it for years, so it must be safe, right? Well, you may be surprised, as I was, to know that some women in New Jersey ended up in the hospit

al after getting waxed. Details…

Officials in New Jersey had proposed a ban on Brazilian bikini waxes (you know, the bare-all variety) after two women were hospitalized with post-waxing infections. But, the proposed ban was recently overturned.

Could bikini waxing really be dangerous or were these just isolated incidents? Well, a look back in the news shows that one woman made headlines in 2007 when she “almost died” from a bikini wax gone bad.

But, these cases are really rare, say health experts. It’s true that dermatologists aren’t wild about the procedure, namely the Brazilian, because it leaves your skin–which can be more sensitive in the bikini region–prone to rashes and irritation, which can lead to other skin problems.

Still, if you have your heart set on a Brazilian, go for it says Dr. Neil Sadick, M.D., a Professor of Dermatology at Weill Cornell Medical College and President of the Cosmetic Surgery Foundation. The health risks are relatively minor.

A safe and more effective bikini solution is Laser Hair Removal. You’ll have about seven 30 minute treatments, once every 4-6 weeks and after that you can throw away the razor and forget about the pain of waxing. As you know with waxing your back at the salon every few weeks as the hair grows back, but with laser once it is gone, it is gone.

If you are in the metro Denver or Boulder area please give Bella Pelle Laser a call and explore being hair free with laser hair removal.
